5 DAYS OFF is an electronic music festival based in the city centre of Amsterdam, at the entertainment area of the Leidseplein. The two most renowned music venues Paradiso and Melkweg host the annual festival which doesn’t only focus on electronic music but also on a diversity of art disciplines which manifest in the ever evolving club culture.
This year the lineup was exellent, to name a few: Panda Bear, Caribou (dj set), dj Koze, Isolee, James Blake, Ellen Allien, Kode 9 & Space Ape, Hercules & Love Affair, Tom Trago, MJ Cole, Joy Orbison, Appart, Pearson Sound and more… in this 15 minute clip you see some of my personal highlights.

This mix contains many dj’s and acts that performed at the festival and some songs i heared there. Especially Julio Bashmore’s track was popular (played by three differtent dj’s).

I had the privilege to see two of the best and most experienced dj’s in the world, in one week. The first one is Greg Wilson from the UK and the second one is Danny Krivit from New York. They are both deeply rooted is soul, funk and disco music and have amazing editting skills.
More about Greg Wilson and Danny Krivit

Here is some footage i shot (the sound quality is poor because i used my iphone)

This is a msut see video: a live demonstration by Greg Wilson (from 1983):

Danny Krivit on editting:

There’s a lot going on right now in the Middle East. But also local politics has roughened. I got the inspiration to make this mix, because i was asked to dj at the afterparty at “het Feest van de democratie” (the Party of Democracy). The first song in this mix is Dutch hip-hop and it’s all about politics. In the other songs you get the message.
